discovering discovery park

the beautiful spring weather trend has continued, and sammy is very much enjoying sunning on our balcony. i imagine seattle will have plenty of april showers, so have been taking advantage of the sun by visiting the city's outdoor spaces. today, we spent the morning at discovery park in seattle's magnolia neighborhood. at 534 acres, this is seattle's largest park. we were actually quite surprised to find hiking trails spanning the park, as we were planning on just a short visit. 3 miles later and the necessity of gps to find our way back to the car, we decided it would take a few visits to really absorb all the beauty of this park. discovery park actually has a sandy beach with breath-taking views of the sound. the sailboats were a sight to see! if you're interested in a long walk "away" from the city, this is absolutely the place to do it! i am very much looking forward to visiting again!

after finding our way back to the car we decided to stay in magnolia for lunch. a co-worker recommended fighting cock roaster, a small sandwhich shop. wow, this place was GOOD! apparently they closed a year ago with hopes to re-open, and i'm glad they did! check it out if you're looking for a leisurely lunch, but definitely be prepared to wait!
stay tuned for easter in CANADA!
